Udokk
Video publishing for health professionals
Udokk is a health and wellbeing platform where creators share video content and people follow, watch and subscribe. CodeLeap designed and built the whole thing — the iOS and Android apps, the web version, the backend and later its subscription monetisation.
What we did CodeLeap built it as two products rather than one compromise, a mobile app for watching and a web hub for uploading and publishing, with a complex Banne Stream integration underpinning video delivery across both.
Udokk is a digital platform on which healthcare professionals publish scientific and educational content, giving practitioners, students and the general public access to health information they can actually rely on. CodeLeap built it as a two-part product, pairing a mobile app for consuming content with a web-based hub for uploading and managing it, and delivered the streaming infrastructure that carries the video at its centre. The platform allows specialists to share knowledge and earn from it, which is what sustains the supply of good content over time.
Product features
-
Dedicated video player
A purpose-built player presents health content clearly and accessibly, allowing professionals to publish richer educational material than text alone permits and giving audiences a more engaging way to consume it.
-
Streaming integration
A complex Banne Stream integration underpins video publishing and delivery, providing robust infrastructure for handling media across both web and mobile. This was the most technically involved element of the build, since reliable video delivery across two platforms is where a content product of this kind either works or visibly fails.
-
Content feed
A centralised feed surfaces newly published health and wellbeing content, giving professionals, students and interested audiences an intuitive way to keep up with relevant scientific material rather than searching for it.
-
Profile following
Users follow the healthcare professionals and creators whose work matches their interests, which drives repeat engagement and builds a trusted network around recognised voices. In a field where credibility is everything, following a named specialist is how audiences establish what they can believe.
-
Web-based upload hub
Alongside the mobile experience, a web application gives professionals a practical environment for organising materials, managing content and publishing efficiently. Publishing work of this kind belongs on a desktop, and separating it from the consumption app served both audiences better than a single compromise product would have.
-
Creator monetisation
The platform allows specialists to monetise the scientific content they publish, which gives busy professionals a reason to contribute consistently and makes the quality of the library sustainable.
Challenge
The client had identified growing demand for trustworthy digital health content alongside an opportunity to activate an extensive professional network of medical and health specialists. Converting that into a product meant serving two quite different groups within one ecosystem. Professionals needed a genuine publishing environment with the tools to organise material, manage a body of work and earn from it, since without monetisation there is little incentive for a practising specialist to keep producing content. The audience, meanwhile, spanned healthcare practitioners, students and members of the public interested in their own health, each arriving with very different levels of prior knowledge. Underneath both sat the requirement for reliable video delivery across web and mobile, which is where platforms of this kind most often come undone.
Solution
CodeLeap developed Udokk as a multi-platform health content ecosystem, combining a mobile app built for consumption with a web application dedicated to uploads and publishing workflows. Video delivery, personalised feeds and profile-following give audiences a reason to return, while the upload hub and monetisation give specialists a reason to publish. The complex streaming integration provides the infrastructure to handle media reliably across both environments. The result enables professionals to share valuable scientific knowledge on their own terms while building a scalable destination for health content that people can trust, available on desktop, iOS and Android.

The Frida ProjectThe Frida Project offers mental health support from licensed therapists inside small online peer groups, and the founders needed to validate the idea with real users before spending the rest of their budget. CodeLeap launched the iOS and Android MVP in under three months, and it averaged 4.9 stars soon after launch and reached thousands of users.

A lab test, read from a photo. Medical test scanning appColour-change screening tests are read by eye, which makes the result subjective and hard to track over time. CodeLeap built a computer vision algorithm that reads the test objectively from a photograph taken on a phone, together with the apps around it.
