Floorplans drawn on site, not later

NicheCom produces floorplans at scale for estate agents. We designed and built a working prototype of an iPad app for their field surveyors — measure and draw a property in a single site visit — to prove the concept before any rollout.

What we did CodeLeap built the native iPad app with laser measure integration, grid-based line snapping for accuracy and branded PDF export, so the plan is validated as it is drawn and leaves the site finished.

NicheCom produces floorplans at industrial scale for estate agents across the country. Their surveyors captured measurements on site and redrew the plans later at a desk, a two-step process that invited transcription errors and slowed every job down. They asked CodeLeap for a native iPad tool letting a surveyor draw a measured, validated plan on the spot.

Native iPad drawing experience

A fast, touch-first canvas built for drawing on site, responsive enough to sketch a full property while walking through it. The alternative, a tool that only really works sitting down, would have reproduced the problem it was meant to remove.
Grid and line snapping

Walls snap to a grid and to each other, so plans come out square and clean without fiddly manual alignment. Accuracy comes from the tool rather than from the steadiness of someone's finger on a screen.
Laser-measure integration

The app pairs directly with Disto laser measures, so real-world dimensions flow into the drawing rather than being read off a device and typed in. That connection removes the single most common source of transcription error in the old process.
One-tap PDF export

A finished plan exports to a clean, branded PDF in a single tap, ready to hand to the agent before the surveyor has left the property. The job finishes where it happens instead of returning to a queue.

Challenge

Drawing an accurate floorplan is an exacting task normally done with a mouse, a large screen and time. Moving it onto a tablet held in one hand while walking through an unfamiliar property means the interface has to be forgiving enough for rough input and strict enough to produce a plan that is actually square. NicheCom also needed to know whether the idea worked before committing to it. The brief was to prove the concept end to end rather than to build the finished tool, which set the scope and the standard for what had to be demonstrated.

Solution

CodeLeap designed and built a working prototype covering the whole job: a touch-first drawing canvas, grid and line snapping for accuracy, direct pairing with Disto laser measures so dimensions arrive without being retyped, and branded PDF export in a single tap. A surveyor could draw a measured, validated plan on site and hand over the finished PDF before leaving, with no desk step and far fewer transcription errors. It proved the concept end to end; the app stayed a prototype rather than going into production.
