AI fitness & nutrition coach
An AI fitness and nutrition coach
We worked with one of the UK’s leading protein brands to build an AI coaching app, built around a conversational coach that adapts to each user’s goals.
What we did CodeLeap built the LLM-backed coaching engine, the conversational personality, the scoring and progress system and the health dashboard, and wired the brand's product catalogue into the nutrition plans, so the coach suggests more achievable goals when a user misses workouts rather than letting them disengage.
A coach in every pocket. TBWA\Dublin, one of the world’s most recognised creative and marketing agencies, partnered with CodeLeap to develop an AI-powered fitness and nutrition coaching application for one of the UK’s leading protein powder brands. The collaboration brought together TBWA’s deep understanding of the brand’s audience with CodeLeap’s technical expertise in AI and mobile development, resulting in an intelligent coaching experience that adapts to each user’s behaviour and goals.
Product features
-
AI Coaching Engine
Powered by a large language model, the AI coach delivers personalised fitness and nutrition guidance that adapts based on the user’s activity patterns, preferences and progress. If a user consistently misses workouts, the coach suggests adjusted, more achievable goals rather than letting the user disengage.
-
Conversational Chatbot Personality
The coaching interactions feel natural and encouraging, with an enhanced chatbot personality that moves beyond rigid question-answer flows into genuine conversational engagement — motivating users to stay on track.
-
Product Integration
The brand’s product catalogue is connected to the coaching experience, enabling the AI to recommend relevant products as part of personalised nutrition plans — creating meaningful, ongoing engagement beyond one-off transactions.
-
Scoring & Progress System
A performance tracking system monitors user activity across exercises with running averages and minimum thresholds (e.g., scoring to 90% over a minimum of 15 exercises), giving users tangible milestones to work towards.
-
Health & Fitness Dashboard
A polished dashboard presents health and fitness data clearly, making it easy for users to understand their progress, upcoming goals and areas for improvement at a glance.
Challenge
The brand wanted to move beyond traditional product marketing and create a genuinely useful digital companion for its customers — an app that would help users build and maintain fitness and nutrition plans tailored to their individual goals. The vision was ambitious: an AI coach capable of adapting workout and nutrition recommendations based on user behaviour. TBWA needed a development partner who could handle the technical complexity of building an LLM-powered coaching system while delivering a consumer-grade mobile experience at the quality standard expected by a globally recognised brand.
Solution
CodeLeap developed “Coach Optimum,” an AI-powered fitness and nutrition assistant built into a consumer mobile application. The AI coaching engine delivers personalised guidance that adapts based on user activity patterns. Enhanced conversational features make interactions feel natural and encouraging. Product integration connects the brand’s catalogue with personalised nutrition plans. A scoring system tracks performance across exercises with running averages and minimum thresholds. The project demonstrated how a global brand can use AI to create meaningful, ongoing engagement with its customers.
