Registration platform
The event platform featured an interactive registration form that dynamically adapted to each user's responses, ensuring a seamless sign-up process for schools and volunteers.
Matching algorithm
A custom-built algorithm by CodeLeap paired each participating school with an AWS volunteer, considering factors like proximity, language preferences, learning styles, and availability to ensure the best possible match.
API integration
To maintain compliance, the event was hosted on Splash, an event registration platform. CodeLeap developed a custom API integration to retrieve participant data from Splash’s database and securely execute the matching process on an external server.
Resources & training modules
A dedicated Resources Library provided participants with training materials and instructional videos. It also featured a Volunteering Hours Calculator, allowing AWS volunteers to track their total contribution.
Challenge
The CloudRoom initiative introduced an innovative concept: connecting schools with local AWS volunteers to teach students about Cloud technology.
Global event
Thousands of students participated globally, from Tokyo to Dubai and New York. Each school needed to be paired with an ideal volunteer based on proximity, language skills, learning preferences, and availability.
Logistical challenge
CodeLeap was brought into the project to build a platform that would be capable of solving this logistical challenge and deliver an effortless experience to all participants.
Solution
Event platform
As part of our ongoing partnership with creative agency Marble London, we developed and launched CloudRoom’s event platform, enabling schools worldwide to register, get matched with local AWS volunteers, and access key resources for teacher training and event preparation. The platform featured a custom-built matching algorithm by CodeLeap, ensuring optimal volunteer pairings for each participating school.
Smart Matching Algorithm
The platform relied on a custom matching algorithm built by CodeLeap to create optimal volunteer matches for each participating school.
Seamless API Integration
Connected with Splash’s event platform to securely manage participant data and execute automated school-volunteer pairings.
Interactive Resources Library
Provided teachers and volunteers with training materials, event guidelines, and a Volunteering Hours Calculator to track contributions.
Tech Stack
The tech stack was selected based on the client’s compliance and legal requirements
CodeLeap integrated the event registration platform Splash with a custom-built external server, where the matching algorithm processed volunteer-school pairings. The Resources Library was launched using Brightspot CMS, with additional interactive pages developed in React to enhance functionality.
The platform was optimised for both desktop and mobile access:
